Will Learning About the Law of Attraction Help Me Become Enlightened?
So what’s the difference, first off, between the way people have traditionally operated in the world and the way they can now operate by using the Law of Attraction?
The normal way people got what they want was they went out, earned some money, and bought stuff using cash to ultimately find out that what they bought wouldn’t bring them happiness.
The new “spiritual” way of operating is to work in alignment with the Universe. They learn how the Law of Attraction works and get really good at it in order to manifest what they want, yet they still find out that getting what they want by manifesting it won’t make them happy.
It doesn’t matter whether they manifest it through the universe or they use more traditional methods, they still wind up with the end result of trying to get and experience what they want. Why else would they deliberately want to go and manifest something?
If you’ve noticed, no enlightened guru actually teaches the Law of Attraction. Why is this? The teachings on enlightenment are designed to help point you to the realization that none of that actually matters since it’s all an illusion anyways. All that matters is Oneness and the realization of your true Self. When the realization comes that what “you” truly are is All That Is, it just plain silly to try and “get” more of yourself anyways.
Now that’s not to say that the LoA is somehow “bad” and should be rejected. It certainly has its practical uses such as manifesting parking spots, but there’s the realization that whether or not you get the ideal parking spot (or anything else for that matter), it’s not going to make you happy. If you have to park in the back of the lot, so what?
The LoA is simply a tool we can use to play around with in this world, just like a car or a popsicle stick.
Now something that’s really cool is when you start aligning with your true Self, your whole life starts to become synchronistic automatically. It’s like you hop right into the flow and go right with the rhythm of life at just the perfect pace. Things manifest exactly when they need to without you actually having to do anything deliberately. You just be yourSelf and everything you need will be provided.
“Seek first the kingdom of God and all else will be added unto you.”
This is the meaning of that statement.
If you want to play with the LoA, feel free. You are welcome to do anything you wish with the free will that “you” have in this lifetime. Just don’t try to make yourself happy through it. Similarly, don’t expect it to make you enlightened.
The LoA is about seeing things the way you want them to be and believing them to be truth. Enlightenment is simply seeing things as they truly are without any added mentation in the first place.

I’m always glad when I here this sort of statement.
It pains me to see people trying to seek happiness somewhere out there.

Jarrod, indeed.
It almost seems like the LoA teaches people to choose to be happy which is great considering people take responsibility for creating their reality instead of feeling like a victim so it’s at a higher level than before. Nevertheless, choosing to feel pleasure is still just part of the ego game, isn’t it?
True Divine Bliss has no opposite and arises from beyond the mind altogether. A perfect quote about this point by Wei Wu Wei:
“On the phenomenal plane we seek pleasure and the avoidance of pain. On the noumenal plane we know the absence of both - which is bliss.”

Absolutely, it is the same deal with the emphasis on positive thinking. Sure it beats negative thinking but it still doesn’t grant you the freedom that perceiving beyond positive and negative allows.

You’re very correct: most spiritual guru’s don’t teach the Law of Attraction. (a few do, but it almost immediately disqualifies them in my book). Certainly the Buddha didn’t teach it. Yet the book about the Law of Attraction DOES pretend that this is an ancient law taught by all the spiritual guru’s. So there is something amiss here.

Hey Katinka, good to hear from you. Who are you familiar with that both is fully awakened and teaches the LoA?
The very core of awakening necessitates not believing anything the mind says in the first place.

Many people are conditioned to think that getting more “stuff” will make them happy, that is why when I talk to people about creative intention I try to help them dig deeper and find out what it is that they truly want and after some time it usually comes down to happiness and yet people are still often supprised to find that what they really wanted was happiness, because of the prior conditioning about surrounding yourself with “stuff”.
I think the L.O.A offers awareness, it can open a door to possibilities, at least it did for me and I found myself becomming less concerned with “stuff” and more concerned with knowing myself from the inside out, and as you say when we do this everything else falls into line anyway.
Great article Ariel you always get me thinking, I could talk about this for days.

Yeah Carol, you’ve found the deeper understanding behind the Law of Attraction. It’s truly not about pleasing the ego at a higher level, though it may seem so when it’s pawned off as a tool to make money rain from the heavens, get your dream car, dream home, dream relationship, and more.
Yes these things come, but the statement “Seek first the kingdom of God and all else will be added unto you” is what it’s really about.
Cheers!
