Waking Up After Camping Along the Rio Grande between Santa Fe and Taos, NM »

The next morning we woke up and it was definitely COLD... Even though there was a little bit of wind, it wasn't bitterly cold the way it would be in the eastern US. I think because it's drier and less humid, both the heat and the cold are more tolerable. That's one more thing I like about the west.

Our plan today was to get up early and begin heading west to get to the Grand Canyon and day hike down and back up from the rim the following day.

We got up and I snapped this pic before breaking camp and we headed up to Taos for breakfast. The drive up was beautiful...

One thing we realized along the drive was that that wasn't just any river we happened to be camping along. That was the fricken Rio Grande!!
