We went up into Taos for breakfast and actually had a little trouble finding a place to eat since we got there so early. We wound up going to a wonderful little restaurant where the waitress was actually waiting for her friend to come by and take her son to school. :)
Thanks to asking local people and my live photo updates from my phone to facebook and talking to my facebook friends from the road, I'm finding all sorts of cool things to see and do around here! Not only this, there's also lots of cool random things to see all over the place.
This photo is of such one example. As we were leaving Taos to make the drive to the Grand Canyon in Arizona, we saw these awesome huge teepees along the side of the street so we stopped and pulled in to take a look. I went inside and they were HUGE! A far cry from my little backpacking tent where I had to stoop and crawl around in the morning to get everything situated. In here you could put up a basketball hoop! :D
There were about 4 such teepees there side by side, as well as some cool little clay huts. There was also this native american store we went in. The guy inside was really friendly and let us bong around on their drums and musical instruments. They had dreamcatchers, hatchets, paintings, dolls, and sooooo much more cool native american stuff. I really enjoyed the place.
I asked him how they close the top when it rains or snows and he said that they don't! Instead they have these flaps on top they can adjust depending upon the direction of the snow.
