T-Rex by the Side of the Road »

So on Friday we did the drive from New Mexico to Phoenix, AZ. It was a pretty awesome drive. AZ and NM have pretty similar terrain, but noticably different. NM was a lot of rolling mountains with bushes in the dirt. In AZ you'll get some of that, as well as red rocks, cacti, and a whole bunch of other cool stuff. AZ has a different energy than NM overall. NM felt more vivid and intense whereas AZ felt more still and at rest, yet still just as alive.

As I mentioned before with the teepees, I love finding cool stuff on trips. I've got one of those "1001 Places to Visit Before You Die" books with lots of gorgeous scenery all over the world. We were driving across AZ and I saw signs for the Petrified Forest National Park and remembered seeing that in the book and wanted to go, but for some reason my intuition was saying to keep going. I said alright, but still really wanted to see some petrified wood. A few minutes down the street we see all these cool random things on the side of the street... a T-rex, a school bus on top of a cliff, some animatronic animals, some signs for meteors and petrified wood, and my intuition lit up on this place, so we made the turn and pulled off to see it.

They had some petrified wood there and I was thrilled to see some again. They also had these huge crystals for sale and lots of cool local finds. They even had... well, I'll show you in the next post. :)
