
So you know how airplanes sometimes leave those long cloud-like streaks behind them called contrails? Well the shuttle created this sweet set of vortexes as it blasted up through the atmosphere.
The launch was scheduled for about 45 minutes before sunrise and I was hoping to get a little twilight blue in the background, but it was all black, especially since we were looking due north towards the shuttle and not east towards the sunrise. Nevertheless, as the continued to take some time to fly east and the sun continued to rise, we did get a little color in the skies, as shown here.
