We arrived at the mountain top in the late afternoon and set up the tents, scopes, and grills before it got dark. We've got one area of the campsite, away from the glowing fire, designated for the scopes. Here we've got Paul in the distance setting up one scope, Shen and Orion checking out another, and my camera-less tripod on the right.
Oh, speaking of Astronomy, Mercury will be crossing the sun, making a little silhouetted dot across the face on Wednesday starting at little after 2pm and going past our sunset. We'll be out on Skiles Walkway with a scope. Oh, we're getting a special hydrogen alpha scope from the physics department so instead of seeing this like our solar filter looks when we look at sunspots, we'll be seeing this! oooohh! aaahhhh!!
