Antelope Canyon!! The #1 place in the world I wanted to shoot. Check it off the list!
I hopped in with a photography tour and had a guide take me there and show us around. Getting there, the road was so sandy that I couldn't tell if we were driving or skiing in the back of the truck...
This place, Antelope Canyon, is like the definition of spectacular. It's SOOO beautiful inside! We were there for at least two hours or so. At first, there were lots of tourists, but they were part of the regular groups. As part of the photo tour, we got to stay a lot longer. Plus, our Navajo guide would take us to the best parts of the slot canyon at the best times of the day. He'd tell us when another beam of light was going to come down from the "roof". Those of you who follow this photoblog will see some of those shots in the very near future. ;) One of the funny things was that he told us to refer to the light beams or rays as "squirrels" because if you use either of the other two words, other people will hear and come running, blocking your shot. haha. So we saw a bunch of squirrels today.
It was really sandy in there and my gear is all filled with sand at this point. The lens zoom/focus rings kind of grind and the bodies have sand in all the little crevices.
Ah man, I love this place...
