One of the great things about shooting international teams is that there's such a unique culture diversity available, like if you're been eating burgers all your life and suddenly open up to the world of tempura, quesadillas, mongolian beef, and all the other worldly dishes available. I didn't realized how standardized American dance and especially American cheer was until I saw international teams perform.
The Chinese for example, it's like they took Chinese acrobats and slapped cheerleader outfits on them. Some of the stunts they pulled... they made my jaw drop! This photo I think is from a dance team from Bangkok, Thailand who did fantastically well, as did their cheer team. Not only did their costumes rock, but their performances repeatedly brought the crowd to their feet.
It's sweet hearing teams cheer in english due to their cool accents, ie. Gerrmany, Mehico, Feenland, as well as hearing them cheer in their native tongue.
