Bourbon St model at Piedmont Park »

The other day I went to a meetup at Piedmont Park for photographers to shoot models in front of the Atlanta skyline. I enjoy these shoots, particularly the ones outdoors, because it gives me an opportunity to try some new things, add some photoblog shots, and get out of the house to do something new.

I'm gonna be posting a series of shots from the event, about a week's worth of daily photos, because I'm pleased with quite a few of the images that came out.

This shot is one of my classic go-to shots. I like shooting a tight vertical of something like this. I also like shooting horizontal and filling the frame with negative space, ideally smooth nondistracting dark bokeh (yay 70-200!), with a the model a third of the way in or out of the frame. Shots like these are also easier because I don't have to worry so much about the positioning of the model's body, her pose, and all that jazz. Shoot tight for a sense of intimacy with the subject and you get a get out of jail free card with respect to her positioning. :p That said, most of the images from this set will be body shots as well.

Onward!
