Climbing Minnehaha Falls »

We hiked up to a series of not-so-touristy falls up in Northeast Georgia near Rabun Lake. It's a beautiful lake with lots of waterfront properties and weekend homes. I really loved the area.

There were 4 waterfalls we did that day:

Bad Branch Falls, a small little falls you can get wet in by walking under. It was a beautiful little simple falls.

Next was Minnehaha Falls, pictured here. It was the first falls we climbed up. I'm not a fan of going down waterfalls, as it's much easier to slip and harder to find footing, but fortunately these falls all had little trails that you could walk/slide down.

The third falls up was Panther Falls, and you bet we climbed it too! Cricket, the dog, is an amazing hiker and climber, easily flying up and down those falls. It was impressive!

Finally was Angel Falls, a tall and narrow falls. I sat back to get some food and restore my energy before climbing this falls. It was a hoot getting up there, because it was so much taller than the other falls. Getting back down though, there was no real trail, unlike the other falls, but more of a makeshift ghetto trail. Getting back down was a matter of sliding back down on your butt, on one foot or two, and grabbing branches or tree trunks on your way down to stop yourself. It was basically a semi-controlled fall. and I loved it! lol... Definitely came back nice and dirty after that return...
